Personal Statement
I have 12 years experience working with children in various settings including: schools, pre-schools, nurseries and swim teaching at swim schools and coaching at a swimming club.
I went to Chichester University and have a BA Hons degree in Early Childhood Studies. This gave me an invaluable knowledge and understanding of working with children. After that, I completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) at Roehampton University, in teaching at primary level.
So far in my teaching career, I have gained experience working with a range of ages and have taught EYFS (Reception), Year One, Year Two and Year Three.
In October 2017 I received my certificate for the Level 5 Specialist teachers diploma in Teaching Learners with Dsylexia and SpLD’s. I studied for this diploma at the Helen Arkell Centre. https://www.helenarkell.org.uk/
Through the Level 5, I have experience in creating a Personalised Learning Plan and setting SMART targets http://www.brickcommajason.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/smart-goals.jpg. I believe that personalised teaching is really important and try to make my lessons as interesting for the learner as possible by in-cooperating their interests.
I myself am dyslexic and was diagnosed aged nine. Over the years I have had to work hard and have used a range of strategies to help me achieve my goals. I have not let dyslexia stop me and I don’t think anyone should. So far in life, I’ve achieved my goals and I feel everyone should be given the chance to do the same.
Due to experienced gained in many settings, I’ve learnt many skills and strategies. As a result, I have learnt how to work well in a team and have improved upon my communication skills.
